By: Nick Guthman (Culver Palms YMCA)
Eric Hernandez, representing the country of North Korea is from Culver City, California and his delegation is Culver-Palms YMCA (CPY).  Today in the General Assembly ( G.A.) they are trying to rush through all the resolutions for the various problems such as overpopulation and human trafficking. North Korea was not in favor of many of the resolutions, but they were 100% in favor of  advances in renewable sources. So although it got dry at times, most people of the G.A. had a lot …

Russia Bribes Iran!

May 1, 2010
By:  Abigail Mitchell (South Pasadena YMCA)
During a morning session on Friday, Security Council was discussing the topic of nuclear power. They discussed how they would use the nuclear power, and where it would be stored. Kevin Lentz, representing Russia, suggested that we simply bribe Iran. “We should bribe Iran to stop producing nuclear weapons.” Others feared that Iran would use the money for bad reasons. “If we bribed Iran, how would we know they wouldn’t use the money to buy back the nuclear weapons they sold?”

Morning Inspiration!

May 1, 2010
By: Jenna Senger (Saddleback YMCA)
Morning Inspirational is a fun way to start anyone’s day. Just in case you don’t know what Morning Inspiration is, it’s a gathering held in the morning at 7:15 in Academy 1. Morning inspiration involves singing and talking about the word of the day and telling and acting out skits about how that word is interpreted. “It is very uplifting and it wakes me up in the morning,” says Lauren Peeters of the CIA delegation. Steve, the very enthusiastic Inspiration leader, always brings his guitar …

Inspiration: For Early Risers Only!!

May 1, 2010
By: Nic Wainwright (SPPY)

Many people filled Academy 3 at 7:15 a.m. for Morning Inspiration.
Morning Inspiration is a way for ambassadors to wake up and feel great early in the morning. Led by Steve, ambassadors sing, talk, laugh and clap. Every day, Steve gives a word of the day that is important to our lives. The tricky part is every time we hear that word that day, we have to clap. Today’s word of the day is “kindness”.
Morning Inspiration was started off by a song about a person named …

Date: Friday, April 30, 2010
Written By: Ashley Dahlen (Santa Barabara Family YMCA)
Today in the Sercuity Council meeting, they talked about many interesting things, but I will tell you about  the most important things.
One important thing they talked about was Nuclear Proliferation in Iran. They talked about stopping Nuclear weapons from Iran. They also argue a lot, about either putting Iran on surveillance or how they would want to stop the spread of nuclear power.
They also asked very specific questions about everything. For instance,  all the countries wanted to know how can …

Micheal the Magician: From Optimistic to Offensive?

Date: April 30, 2010
By: Lauren Peeters (Stuart C. Gildred Family YMCA)
On April 29th, Micheal the Magician had the nearly impossible job of entertaining 200 members of the Model United Nations, whose ages range from about 11-14.  The energetic magician preformed a wide variety of tricks, including levitation, nearly impossible balancing, and optical illusions, to name a few. Of course, not everyone in such a large crowd can be pleased easily, so many members of the audience had different opinions about the show.
“The shaving cream trick was awesome,” states conflicted bystander Jenna on his …
