Eric Hernandez, representing the country of North Korea is from Culver City, California and his delegation is Culver-Palms YMCA (CPY). Today in the General Assembly ( G.A.) they are trying to rush through all the resolutions for the various problems such as overpopulation and human trafficking. When you participate in general assembly you talk a lot. I sat in for one session and I wanted to share what I saw.
1. They debate a lot
2. They talk about resolutions or agreements. When they made a motion they would raise their plaquers instead of saying I or Nay.
3. They speak about vaccinations for swine flu and malaria.
4. They discuss the world and all the problems that come with it.
5. All the ammbasodors have two minutes to speak on how they felt about the situation.

In GA6 yesterday they were discussing UN reform. Kathryn Li of Saudi Arabia said “We want all countries to have the same voice because the western world is dominating.” She voted for reforming the UN. Some ideas they were discussing are: Problems of Earth, dividing campains of financial resources more evenly, Problems of UN and fixing them, stop terrorism, internet security and UN Reform.

General Assembly Sunset Academy 4 talks about how their countries feel about the topic of deforrestation. Israel believes that certain species should be eliminated. Japan states that burning forrests was wasted 70% of areas. In comparison, only 33% of the united states is forested although it may be comparing apples and oranges. On Friday, April 30th I had the privilege to sit and listen in on GA7’s topic on which they were working on. When I had walked in they were working on a resolution. Their topic was humanitarian affairs and renewable energy sources. The GA discussed a range of topics most relating to human rights and policies. I currently don’t have the resolution for you. Sorry! The General Assembly was discussing their resolution on poverty. The resolution was to have the richer countries loan money to the countries in poverty. In the second General Assembly Committee 1 meeting they debated the issue of combating terrorism. Terrorism has been spreading around the world and becoming more damaging to people everywhere. Everyone present was against terrorism except Japan. In the General Assembly Committee 1 meeting they debated on the issue of spreading weapons of mass destruction (WMDs). These weapons are becoming easier to make and becoming a bigger threat to countries all over the world. Most countries debated that WMDs should be terminated.
