At the beginning of the Security Council, the group had a weak start but then quickly entered the main points on their topic of Piracy in Somalia. Some of their main concerns are the attacking of ships, the raising aggression, the increasing piracy, and the fact that most of the Somalia’s aid is being halted. This adversly affects the Somalians but it is necessary to limit the natural resources that the pirates steal. Mexico’s opinion on this was that Somalia must be protected. Japan said, “Military action must be taken to stop piracy.” Turkey exceeded that piracy must be stopped in order to maintain their share of trade. Overall, the United States of America, Burkina Faso, Austria, Uganda, Japan, and china all had the same resolution involving alliances and some sort of military action.

I would like to say, as the president of the prior Security Council (2009), that the “weak start” was rather the discussion of the problem, not the discussion for a resolution. Thank you.
