What is press corp.? This is a question that is frequently asked in our sector. So, as a result, I plan to explain a little about press corps involvement in these conventions held in MUN. Press Corp is basically the updater of the conference that is being held currently in Burbank, California. Whether individually or as a whole we desire to get the news of what other organs and the Security Council are debating and discussing about. These topics in discussion are very important in the conference due to the fact they are current issues of our world. An example of these topics would be the Piracy in Somalia. Recently, an American ship was captured by Somalian Pirates. Although America got their men back it really underlined how big an issue this is; although other topics may be less talked about they are not less controversial. Because of this we take our jobs very seriously and prefer that those who partake in the debate do as well. We thank our Leaders who have evidently lead us here and thank those who opened Press Corp into MUN. From everyone here at Press, thank you.

This is a very interesting website. It clearly displays all of the hard work of the Press Corps. I have a few words to say to all who attended the Summit at Burbank: Everything that has happened to me has changed me into a better person. I now realize that crisis is not just an event, but a real something that could happen anytime. Perhaps it may not be as severe, perhaps it may not be just as large as the bombing of Beijing, China. However, what we can take from this, and what we can leave the Summit with is that even small problems take a lot of work to solve. That is why it is better to prevent the problems before they happen. I now truly have real appreciation to the Real United Nations for all the work they put into peacekeeping. Hopefully, one day, we will all be able to help prevent problems in the world. The things that we can do now may be minimal. They may be trivial! Even so, turning off water when brushing your teeth may help to conserve fresh water. Not wasting paper will help to prevent global warming, for there will be more trees to absorb Carbon Dioxide. These small things are just some of the things we can do to help our world today. Thank you to the YMCA for their phenomenal effort put into the Summit at Burbank. I can see how much effort they put in to make the best experience for everyone, and that is truly appreciated. They have inspired me to join Model Legislature & Court next year, as well as Model United Nations. I’ll love to work with the YMCA in their effort to start helping the world with this small step. As Tiffany Lam, the previous Secretary General for the 2009 conference said, “For complete goodness will come one step at a time: each goal accomplished sets us closer to a more united world, and to our ultimate goal of global peace.” This is one of those small steps. I hope that this small step will for some, one day, turn into a true change into the world.

    Thank you.

2009 President of the Security Council
