During the second portion of the Security Council, the group decided to address the Israeli-Hamas Conflict. In June 1948, Israel was established when Egypt divided into two separate groups. One of the groups decided to form another country, which resulted in what we now know as Israel. During that time Egypt believed Israel belonged to them, which then led to disagreements. In General Assembly, committee 4, the ambassadors talked about the refugees of the Israel and Palestine conflict. Though the state of Israel was established in 1948, the term is usually used also in reference  to earlier phases of the conflict, between Zionist pioneers and the Arab population living in Palestine under Ottoman or British rule.
